Slow-burn Munich crime, and vampire & werewolf dark romance. Two very different kinds of dread, written by the same hand.

About the author

Mark Berger writes in two very different registers: patient, procedural crime fiction rooted in analog-era Munich, and dark, high-stakes vampire and werewolf romance.

His crime novels live in a city of rotary phones, carbon copies, and smoke-filled interrogation rooms, where cases are solved with shoe leather, stubbornness, and the occasional lucky break, never a database search. He's fascinated by the slow grind of real investigation, and by the detectives who carry every unsolved file home with them.

His romance runs on a different kind of hunger. Here the monsters are beautiful, the bargains are dangerous, and love is the riskiest thing anyone can choose. Expect old bloodlines, older grudges, and characters who would burn the world down for each other.

What ties both worlds together is a love of shadows: the things people hide, the lines they cross, and what it costs them. Mark writes late at night, usually with too much coffee and something moody on the record player.
